TOPOGRAPHIC INFORMATION

2D or 3D topographic information can be extracted and generated from a point cloud obtained from 3D laser scanning. These 2D and 3D topographic data can be delivered in a variety of formats and levels of detail to match the specific requirements of a project as well as the data type needs of the client. Using a terrestrial 3D scanner to obtain topographic data allows us to achieve millimeter accuracy which cannot be matched by other surveying techniques such as drone lidar or photogrammetry which typically has an accuracy of around 10 cm. Moreover, using a terrestrial 3D laser scanner allows us to scan even the smallest deviations in topography—another aspect that cannot be done using drone surveying techniques. Topographic data is used commonly in both urban and non-urban development to assess the elevation of an area, a crucial step in planning, development, and monitoring.
