CLASH

DETECTION

CLASH DETECTION

By comparing either an existing design model to a point cloud obtained from 3D scanning or point cloud to point cloud we are able to perform clash detection analysis. Through clash detection, we are able to test the design against the existing equipment and environment to identify any clashes so that they can be eliminated at the design stage. Compared to discovery on-site, by identifying any potential clash problems in the design stage through 3D scanning we are able to prevent costly time delays and material costs. Utilizing 3D laser scanning allows us to ensure the proper design is being carried out on-site by identifying any deviations from the design to the actual object. Subsequently, many projects may benefit greatly from scanning objects multiple times along a construction process to track and compare with the design model to identify problem areas and deviations. Data collected through 3D scanning in this manner can also be worked with a BIM model to update the design model to best reflect the actual (as-built) model.
